About the Author

I retired as Director, Research, at Daiwa Capital Markets America (DCMA), a unit of Japan-based Daiwa Securities Group, one of the world's largest brokerage and investment banking firms. My focus at DCMA was on U.S. pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device markets and companies, for which I provided investment recommendations to our clients.

Previously, I was an executive at the biotechnology company, Life Technologies, and at SmithKline Beckman Corporation (SKB), a major global supplier of pharmaceuticals and diagnostic products and services. Early in my career at SKB, I was a scientist in the organic chemistry section of the Company's research and development department.

I have a B.S. in chemistry from Villanova University and was awarded a National Defense Education Act fellowship to study chemistry at the graduate level at Western Reserve University. I also completed the Graduate Management Program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

My wife Cathy and I live in Ocean City, New Jersey. Our son and his wife are the parents of two young children, a boy and a girl.
